The breakdown of how it all started on Etsy
So I list my templates on Etsy. Every now and then, I scroll through to see what the competition is doing like any other Etsy seller. So I was looking at the competition’s social media analytics report. That’s when it happened. I noticed a replica of my social media analytics report.

The plot twist
After having the listing removed, the Etsy lister contacted me and stated she did no wrong and she purchased the design from another company. Multiple people were selling the listing. After going all through Etsy pages related to my listing, I found that there were 13 listings. With this information, I reached out to the company.
The plot twist number two
After speaking with the company they removed the listing from their library bank. I mentioned that it is best they reach out to the company due to brand image being negatively impacted and I am happy to allow them to continue listing for a fee. Instead of the company reaching out to their customers (to protect their image I suspect) and after some negotiations, they offered to pay a fee for each month and each shop.
Lessons learned
Don’t be afraid - Defend your work even if you are afraid. IT’S YOURS! Yeah I questioned myself on doing this and I shouldn’t have.
Be strategic - Don’t be afraid to negotiate. Before reaching out to the company, I had a plan. I knew what I wanted my desired outcome to be. I negotiated and executed.
Continue to research - This let me know that the key words and my overall design of my listing worked. Utilizing platforms and improving my SEO is why my listing is doing so well.
Although a little shocked an unsure how to navigate this, in a crazy way, I felt proud. Proud because it let me know I was doing something right. It also let me know that my key words research and plan was working. This also gave me the thought that perhaps I should starting selling my templates as Private label right templates and so I did.
